The Nellis Solar Power Plant, a 14-megawatt photovoltaic facility, is situated at Nellis Air Force Base in Clark County, Nevada. Inaugurated on December 17, 2007, by Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons, it annually generates 32 gigawatt-hours of electricity, supplying over 25% of the base’s power. Spanning 140 acres, the ground-mounted solar system, equipped with SunPower’s advanced sun tracking, comprises about 70,000 solar panels, reaching a peak capacity of approximately 13 MWAC. With a capacity factor of around 22%, the plant significantly contributes to renewable energy at the base.
